WBL Online is a community website for work-based learning providers in the West Midlands. It is part of a region wide project to improve the digital literacies of WBL providers and their staff. The project aims to highlight training and funding opportunities for WBL Providers to improve in the following areas:

Interactive Xerte Objects - New

TDM, as part of the WBL Online project will be creating interactive learning objects using the Xerte online toolset.

The objects will be related to the 10 business critical areas in the West Midlands and cover topics such as IT Support and Business Improvement Techniques.

The objects produced will be embedded in Moodle courses and made freely available.

E-Learning Clinics - New

Confused? Got some new ideas you want to try? Want some advice and guidance on how to make e-learning better? Want to take the next step?

Reflective Portfolios - New

In this project, TDM staff go to your place to teach your learners and staff to use reflective ePortfolios. Those who participate will receive:

  • Two free copies of the Mahara 1.2 ePortfolios: Beginners Guide.
  • A free training day led by Mahara experts.
  • Financial reward for the training centre for organising and hosting the training event.
  • Financial reward for the training provider for up to 5 learner webpages written using Mahara.
  • Cash prizes for learners across the West Midlands.

Free Mahoodle (Mahara and Moodle) Courses

This is a learn-by-doing programme to help you create e-learning resources, pilot them with your own learners, evaluate the resources and improve them for your organisation. The programme is a series of 7 full day workshops and a 10 week online learning programme. The courses are all related to the Virtual Learning Environment Moodle and ePortfolio system Mahara. Free 'We Grow' Change Management Course

In this programme, you will become a professional Development Advisor (PDA) who will see to it that other people undergo Continuous Professional Development activity in order to develop their eSkills (eCPD). The programme is based around the concepts of Goals, Reality, Options and Will - GROW.

Free access to the WBL Online Mahara

WBL Online is based on the Mahara ePortfolio platform. By registering to be part of the WBL Online community, you will be able to participate in topical discussions, write your own blog and access your own files area.

It is also a place where communities of practice from different occupational sectors can come together to collaborate and share ideas.

 
 

WBL Shots Podcast - Now available

On the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month WBL Shots provides you with a short sharp burst of insight into some of the key issues facing WBL. Check the WBL Shots Website for more information on this service. We look forward to seeing you getting involved and making your views heard!

Together with Open Source Learning Technologists, TDM, our networks are continuously tendering our interests under a range of capital and revenue funding streams in order to unify and improve online WBL delivery throughout the West Midlands as a whole.
